Stay Safe This Silage Season

We would like to share the below article featured on Agriland.ie.

Silage clamps are being pushed beyond their capacity and the risks of a serious accident are very real either during filling or emptying.

We agree with all the points and feel it is essential to take time this year to look at your clamps and understand if they are suitable for the volume of silage you are storing.

The failure of a silage clamp wall or a fall from height could be fatal to you, a family member, or a contractor.

We have seen many examples already this year of clamps being filled many times the height of the walls, walls which are made from timber sleepers and steel posts that are easily over 20 years old.

Silage clamps seem to be a blind spot on many farms with a failure to acknowledge their risk.
